Magic: The Gathering – 5 Blue Planeswalkers and Their Stories

The colour blue in Magic: The Gathering symbolises knowledge and intellectualism and offers players the ability to draw and manipulate cards. This is one of the most powerful tools that a player has in competitive play. This has made blue the strongest colour, historically.

Within every Magic pack there is a variety of different card types within each colour, one of the types are Planeswalkers. There are 27 Planeswalkers linked to the blue mana colour who are in active play currently.

Let’s take a look at the stories of just five of the blue Planeswalkers that you may want in your blue deck.

Jace Beleren

This Planeswalker may well be one of the most talented mind-mages the Multiverse. He can read the thoughts of others, erase memories, induce sleep and also immerse others in illusions. Jace Beleren is a strategic genius who is insatiably curious and exceptionally intelligent. For many years he remembered nothing of his childhood, but eventually regained his memories. In searching to discover his past he gained a fascination for puzzles and mysteries, but the search made him guarded and cautious.

He can easily see the true intentions of others around him but understands this has the potential to erode the trust of his friends and take away those genuine connections that he really wants.

Mu Yanling

Mu Yanling has command over both wind and water and can shape them to meet her needs. This can come in the form of gales that will carry her through the air or by weaving wind and water together in order to aid her with martial prowess.

Tamiyo

Countless planes are spanned by the story of the Multiverse, and this stretches back several thousand generations. Tamiyo must document all of it and she will not rest until she has done so. She is an intrepid researcher who is in search of hidden secrets and deep truths. Whilst she is studying history, she tries to avoid interfering with it.

However, despite all of her efforts to attempt to remain impartial she struggles not to place herself at the centre of any events that will help define the Multiverse for generations to come.

Teferi

Hailing from a bygone era, Teferi is a centuries-old hero. He was a Planeswalker of considerable power who once saved his homeland from war by phasing it out of time. Unfortunately, a tragedy occurred during the conflict that followed and he lost much of his power. This rendered him incapable of restoring his home. He eventually found the strength to move on and raised a family, but whilst the years passed, and they grew old he remained the same, almost untouched by age.

He was still troubled by the mistakes that had occurred in his past and felt a huge need to atone. When new threats were made in the Multiverse this inspired him to take the necessary steps to reclaim his Planeswalker spark. Whilst it may be impossible for him to reach the peak of his former powers, Teferei is still a time-mage with formidable powers who has a wry sense of humour shaped by many years of experience that he uses to approach conflict.

Narset

Narset has managed to ignite her Planeswalker spark, and this has given her the ability to walk the Blind Eternities, that is the space found between planes, and discover new worlds. However, her devotion is to Takir, her home plane. Narset is aware that the mysterious past may well hold the key to the long-lost magic, a power that could benefit her own clan, but also the entire plane. She will wait, she will be patient, and she will choose her time carefully.
