In Magic: The Gathering green is the colour associated with raw strength, natural order, plants and animals, fertility, regeneration and, as might be expected, growth.
Green Planeswalkers usually have a particular link to creatures and land, although to different extents depending on the particular card in question.
There are 31 green Planeswalkers cards, the majority identifying as mono-green. Some exceptions with a Golgari colour identity (i.e. a combination of black and green mana) are:
Garruk, Relentless
Tyvar Kell
Grist
Voracious Larva
Let’s have a closer look at some green Planeswalkers to consider scouting for your green deck.
Freyalise - a Half-Elven Green Planeswalker
The leader of the elven clan, Freyalise is a half-elven Planeswalker from a bygone age. She used her incredible powers to protect the forest home of her people, and in so doing heroically sacrificed her life and also prevented the catastrophe that was threatening to destroy the plane of Dominaria.
Garruk, Relentless
Garruk, Relentless (also known as Garruk, Cursed Huntsman) is a planeswalker whose story took a dark turn. Once a proud hunter in tune with the wilds, he fell victim to a corrupting curse tied to Liliana Vess, twisting his innate connection to nature into something dangerous.
He became obsessive, vengeful, and merciless, driven by a relentless hunt for power and prey. His green magic still calls forth beasts and strengthens his allies, but now it carries a shadow of death, reflecting his moral decline and the black magic tainting him.
In battle, Garruk, Relentless is a force of nature turned predator. He summons creatures with unbridled ferocity, strikes down threats with brutal efficiency, and presses his advantage with a single-minded focus. He embodies the hunter who has been twisted by darkness, which is a reminder that even the noblest spark can be corrupted when ambition and vengeance take hold.

Jiang Yanggu
Jiang Yanggu has lost all of his memories, including his name, his past and his family – or even the knowledge of whether he has a family,
To forge a new identity, he chose the name "Yanggu," inspired by the Easternmost Valley, the first place he could remember. This amnesia is central to his character's journey. Accompanied by his loyal dog, Mowu, he embarks on a quest to uncover his origins and understand the mysterious circumstances of his memory loss.
On the battlefield, Yanggu summons warriors, commands precise strikes, and turns any duel into a deadly dance. He is a living testament to skill honed through discipline, the kind of planeswalker who wins not through chaos, but through unwavering focus and sheer expertise.
Nissa Revane
A powerful elven animist, Nissa Revane has the capacity to awaken the land itself to fight on her side. She has an innate connection with the universe's primal magic, something that gives her a profound respect for all kinds of life and also for the systems that assist in supporting it. Whilst she has a soft-spoken and kind demeanour, she is also a fierce fighter and when it comes to the defence of her natural world if it is threatened she is fearless.
Tyvar Kell
The younger brother of the King of the elves on Kaldheim, he has always lived in his brother's shadow. Tyvar Kell swore that he would become a hero in his own right so began travelling the realms in search of adventure or danger. Despite having an overconfident and boastful nature, Tyvar has managed to prove himself to be a staunch ally worthy of respect. Since he became a Planeswalker, Tyvar aspires to become the greatest hero ever known to his people.
Vivien Reid
Vivien Reid is a magical archer and the last survivor of Skalla, a plane that failed to find balance between those seeking progress and the guardians of nature. She works tirelessly to ensure that her people's mistakes are not repeated elsewhere in the Multiverse. She considers herself to be a conservationist and she has a strong connection to all wild animals. She has a magical weapon, the Arkbow, which is capable of preserving the life force of all dying beasts and also summoning powerful spirit incarnations to do battle.
